LOGO FILE SUBMISSION - WHAT IS THE BEST FILE FORMAT TO USE?

To ensure the highest quality for your custom products, we need your logo submitted as a one-colour black VECTOR file (PDF, EPS, or SVG).

This is essential for all our customization services, including laser engraving and cutting, and electronic cutting machine work.

DESIGNER ASSISTANCE

If a designer has created your logo, they will be able to easily provide you with a one-color black vector-based logo to submit.

WHY VECTOR FILES MATTER

Vector files are essential for customization because they can be resized without losing quality. Unlike raster images (e.g., JPG, PNG), vector images (e.g., PDF, EPS, SVG) are made of paths rather than pixels. This means they remain sharp and clear at any size, ensuring precision in all our customization methods, including laser engraving, cutting, and sublimation printing.

FILE TYPES AND THEIR USES

EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)

  • Advantages: Excellent for high-quality prints, scalable without loss of quality, editable
  • Best For: Logos, detailed illustrations, customization
  • Notes: Preferred for customization and professional printing. EPS files are easily editable by designers.

PDF (Portable Document Format)

  • Advantages: Versatile, widely used, retains quality (if vector)
  • Best For: Printing, sharing, customization
  • Notes: Ensure your PDF contains vector graphics, not just embedded raster images. Saving as a PDF does not automatically make it a vector file.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)

  • Advantages: Easily scalable, web-friendly, editable
  • Best For: Web use, customization, illustrations
  • Notes: Ideal for designs that need to be resized frequently.

JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)

  • Advantages: Small file size, universally compatible
  • Best For: Online use, photographs
  • Notes: Not ideal for customization due to potential quality loss when resized.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics)

  • Advantages: Supports transparency, good for web use
  • Best For: Online graphics, simple images with transparent backgrounds
  • Notes: Not ideal for customization due to quality loss when resized.

STEPS AND TIPS FOR SAVING A FILE FROM CANVA

If you are using Canva to create your logo, here are some steps and tips to ensure you are saving it correctly:

  1. Design Your Logo: Create your logo in Canva using vector elements wherever possible.
  2. Download Options: When you’re ready to download, click the “Download” button at the top right.
  3. Select File Type: Choose PDF Print or SVG from the file type options. For EPS, you might need to export your design and convert it using other graphic design software.
  4. Ensure Vector Quality: Make sure the elements in your design are vector-based. Simply saving as a PDF or SVG does not make it a vector file if the original elements are raster images.

COMMON TRAPS TO AVOID WHEN SAVING

  • Not All PDFs Are Vectors: Remember, saving your design as a PDF does not automatically make it a vector file. Ensure your design elements are vector-based.
  • Checking File Quality: Open the saved file in a vector editing program (like Adobe Illustrator) to confirm it is vector-based.
  • Converting Files: If you need to convert your file to a vector format, consider using professional design software or consult with a graphic designer.
